Agree to Disagree
In 2009 I constructed a series of medal sculptures accompanied by a book, borrowing the format from American War Medals and Decorations (Evans E. Kerrigan, 1964), and thinking of David Smith's Medals for Dishonor (1939-40). The medals in my book recognize internal strife: "friendly fire," "fragging" (officers killed or wounded by those of lesser rank), and the embalming business. This led to photos, drawings, and sculptures centered around political and moral fantasies about art-making. (see also: ALL THEY CAN)
